We are proud to have won gold for our project Business Benchmark Farm Animal Welfare with Chronos Sustainability for “Best corporate use of storytelling through data in the Data Comms Awards, hosted by Communicate Magazine. This data visualization project highlights the importance data plays in accountability for animal welfare and our contributions to make progress in sustainability.
The objective of this project was to take a static report and for the first time make it interactive and engaging – it was particularly challenging due to the large volume of data. The first job was to identify and successfully communicate the hidden stories to enable online audiences to consume the information in a more digestible and tailored way. Our creative challenge was to display 9 years of tier rankings across more than 2,000 data points above the fold view.
It’s a complex tale across a large industry of continued excellence, progress for others and little or no evidence of the priority of animal welfare for some. However different audiences required different levels of complexity. The time poor corporate leaders wanted a snapshot, whereas the academics, the members of NGOs and those involved in animal welfare wanted a deeper experience with the accompanying stories. Stories that are increasingly important to everyone as we strive towards a more sustainable way of living.
